RPQ Swanbank Asphalt Plant
CPR Group consulted stakeholders prior to the lodgement of the RPQ development application for a new asphalt plant in Swanbank.
Southeast Queensland’s growing western corridor will benefit from a new asphalt plant in Swanbank. The new plant is being developed by RPQ. It will supply public and private construction projects throughout greater Ipswich.
The project includes construction of an Aztec asphalt system, revegetation of the site’s buffer land and establishment of a 24-hour visitor car park for a nearby mining memorial.
The asphalt plant was developed over a portion of a decommissioned mine site. CPR Group identified ex-miners and families for whom the site held special significance. These stakeholders were respectfully consulted during individual meetings and site tours. Meetings were also held with nearby neighbours and local industrial operators.
Stakeholders were invited to share their memories of the site. Development plans, design drawings and forecast production volumes were discussed and feedback was recorded.
Plans for the layout of the memorial car park and vegetation planting were refined in response to stakeholder feedback.
The Swanbank Asphalt Plan was approved by Ipswich City Council in 2010.
