A master plan for Toombul District Cricket Club

Toombul District Cricket Club Master Plan

Toombul District Cricket Club are a premier grade cricket club in Brisbane with a history going back to 1882. They were one of the foundation clubs of the Queensland Premier Cricket competition, which continues to be the highest level of club cricket played in Queensland.

Toombul District Cricket Club has had a lot of success on the field, but their grounds have had a more adverse history. The grounds were once known as The Junkyard due to the difficulty in maintaining the facilities with the rampant vandalism in the area. Although times, and the area, have changed, the name lives on affectionately, as The Yard, and was passed to The Yard Bar rooftop beer garden built in 2017. Today, the grounds are far from a Junkyard, but are in need of an update. History has left its mark on the clubhouse and amenities.

There have been difficulties getting the updates underway, especially as the grounds are surrounded by roads and therefore cannot be expanded. With support from Queensland Cricket and Brisbane City Council, CPR Group has been engaged to develop a master plan and project implementation plan for the facility improvements. Through consultation with members and the Toombul Cricket community, CPR Group workshopped the concept to develop an achievable plan that will support the future of cricket at Toombul.

The project includes an implementation plan that details actions and, importantly, funding sources. CPR Group will continue to help the club engage with Queensland Cricket and elected representatives to gain support and determine funding sources to help Toombul Cricket Club drive this project forward.
