Master Plan: Revitalisation of Burdekin Netball Association in Collaboration with Facility Planning Consultants

Master Plan: Revitalisation of Burdekin Netball Association

In Collaboration with Facility Planning Consultants

Background

The Burdekin Netball Association (BNA) in Home Hill, Queensland, is a strong and nurturing association with real growth potential and a keen volunteer contingent. BNA is affiliated with Netball Queensland and provides positive opportunities to people from the ages of 5 years old for girls, boys, women and men to play netball in the region. Established in 1970, the association is well-known for conducting high-level fixtures and carnivals for its members and always strives to promote the sport of netball in the region.

CPR Group was engaged by BNA with the task of guiding the establishment and long-term provision of quality infrastructure to benefit all users of the association's facilities through a master plan package.

Prior to CPR Group’s involvement, BNA faced numerous challenges with their existing netball infrastructure. The outdated facilities were insufficient and not fit-for-purpose, leaving the association unable to meet the growing demands of their membership. Inadequate facilities were hindering the association's ability to provide a quality experience for their members and the community.

Recognising the need for a change, BNA sought assistance from CPR Group’s facility planning expert consultants. Following productive online meetings and site visits with the association representatives, CPR Group consultants embarked on a journey to develop a comprehensive master plan package that would support BNA's future growth and enable the organisation  to secure government funding.

Journey

CPR Group's facility planning consultants crafted a tailored master plan package, incorporating supporting demographic, membership and financial performance data and an overview of the existing facilities and new developments in an overall facility master plan drawing. The plan addressed BNA's immediate needs while outlining a staged delivery of priority improvements, ensuring a sustainable and practical approach.

Throughout the project, CPR Group closely collaborated with the association, ensuring their vision and requirements were at the forefront of the planning process. Additionally, necessary assessments and surveys to support council planning processes and grant applications were facilitated to enable a comprehensive and well-rounded master plan.

Next Steps

The completed master plan provided a transformational roadmap for BNA, paving the way for the revitalisation of their netball facilities. Enhanced infrastructure, that catered for forecasted growth and overall improved member experience, was achieved during this facility planning project. Following a sustained period of fundraising, and of engaging with local stakeholders, BNA is now in a position to seek funding support from government to create a netball facility that will enable the sport to continue to flourish in the region.

The collaboration between BNA representatives and CPR Group consultants have laid the foundation for a thriving netball community in Home Hill, where players of all ages and skill levels can excel. The team at CPR Group always looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of its projects and the long-term benefits it will bring to the client for years to come.
